CORE OBJECTIVES
Bridging the Gap Between the YLD & Government Lawyers
Currently, the highest number of young lawyers are employed at the State Attorney's and Public Defendaer's Offices. Due to unique barriers these government and public-interest lawyers are unaware of the YLD or the great programs that it offers. As President, I will bring the YLD to government lawyers in each circuit and provide relevant in-house programming to introduce the YLD and support their needs.
Launching the YLD Lunch and Learn Series
As President, I will strive to better serve young lawyers by launching the new YLD Lunch and Learn Series, consisting of live CLE sessions on various advanced and career oriented legal topics. By including topics related to professional growth and lateral movement, young lawyers will have additional resources to assist them in common career transition areas.
Building Stronger Connections with Law Students
Over the past year, I have traveled to several law schools across the state and had in-depth discussions with law students on how the YLD can better serve their interests. The most common request is to bring the YLD to law students and provide them with additional employment resources. Law students are future young lawyers and future bar leaders. It's important that we engage with them early and fulfil their requests.
Highlighting the Amazing Work of Our Board
Each year the YLD puts forward great programs and initiatives to serve the interests of young lawyers. It's crucial that we highlight the hard work of the YLD. As President, I plan to increase marketing efforts towards showcasing these great initiatives. By increasing our marketing efforts, this will help encourage young lawyer participation and provide our governors with an opportunity to be recognized for their efforts.
Community Service & Outreach
In addition to his voluntary bar association involvement, Reno is committed to community service and outreach. As a Kapow mentor, Reno mentored at risk juvenile criminal offenders, providing these young students with much needed guidance and mentorship. Reno's commitment to service is further evidenced by his involvement with FarmShare, a charitable food packinghouse, whose mission is to alleviate hunger and malnutrition by distributing fresh nutritious food to those who need it the most. Additionally, Reno has continued to show his strong interest in community outreach by continually volunteering his time to assist various non-profit and community service organizations.
